Babbel – Learn French App Reviews

Im impressed

The fonts are difficult to read at times, which really detracts from what could be an excellent app. I lowered my review from 5 stars after this issue became too difficult to ignore. Having used Babbel for 5 lessons now, I have to say its very good. I like the pacing and the way it varies the exercises has been effective.

Babel French

I love the program! I have tried other French programs and this one is the best one. I feel like I am really learning! It explains WHYas well as what. I feel this feature is what makes it superior. Thank you for making it!

Babel French

I am enjoying learning French. It is very clear and easy to follow, and you can go back and redo to help it stick. I especially like the explanations as to why. Go learn French!

With last update, I cant start app

Updates used to have a good connotation, but what Ive gone through with a few other apps and now this one leaves me wanting to never update an app again. Since I have a subscription, Ill need to get a refund if this isnt fixed. My IOS version is 7.12 (Ive learned my lesson with IOS), which is supposed to be still supported. With past updates, I had issues with this app not recognizing my account. Now I cant even run it!! Update: It occurred to me that if I deleted & reinstalled, it might clear up the problem and it did. Now I have to re-download all of the courses Ive already taken.

Top quality.

French is very nicely done. Lots of material clearly organized and explained. The spoken French is perfectly accented and they make sure you speak well in the audio portions--those nice rolling Rs. All lessons are available at once, so I can combine conversation and grammar. Its an auto-renew subscription which was almost a deal breaker, but so far its worth it.

Awesome

This is better then Rosetta Stone

Helpful, cheap, easy... Whats no to like!!

This is supper cheap supper easy to understand and very helpful I would recommend this to anyone I know that wants to learn French!

Great for absolute beginners!

Love it. Clean and easy to follow! Better than anything else out there so far! I like it how they explain the grammar parts and they drill you on what you are learn!

Valuable tool for brushing up on a language

This is my third online French course and the most enjoyable thus far. It is almost akin to playing a game, as the lessons are short , use a lot of repetition, and are generally fun. The only negative for me is the need to spell words again and again. It would be easier to use if words were available as a selection...for example, three spellings with one spelled correctly as opposed to having to hunt and peck the same words again and again. Was ready to toss the iPad last night when I had to spell Bourgogne for the fourth time!

Challenging

For those who already know basics...its a good challenge to learn new vocabulary.

A great app to learn french

As I recently passed the DELF B1 exam, I was looking for a nice app to use in daily life to practice french skills and this app is the best one I have ever downloaded. I would love to learn German and Spanish with this later!

Invest in yourself. Invest in learning!

Babble is a perfect combination of fun and learning. The modules are short, interactive and a LOT of fun. If learning A new language is your objective, this def should be your first step.

Best Language App

These guys have done a great job! Not only technically, also in designing the lessons. Ive tried Duolingo which looks good at the beginning, but you get bored and stop progressing. Bravo Babbel!

Very good

However, It seems as though it doesnt sync correctly with the website. Im speaking particularly about review manager. Its a disappointment for sure.

Love it!

This app is a fantastic language learning tool, better than all the ones Ive ever tried and cheaper too! The lessons are short enough to keep your attention and allow you to do lessons in a short amount of free time but long and informative enough for the learner to progress with each lesson.

No its not free but its worth it!!!!!!

I see stuff on here complaining about how the app is not free, and maybe people are right that babbel should be clearer about this, however I can tell you as someone who has used duo lingo and other free apps that its worth paying the money for babbel. I am learning so much more and so much better with babbel and am very pleased. There is waaaaaay more content, clear explanations and exercises than on something like duo lingo. Besides....its not THAT expensive. Like 6 bucks a month....? Really youre going to complain about that? How much do you spend at Starbucks every day? You get what you pay for in life. If you go cheap often you will not get the best results. This program is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great!

I love this app.. One of the best for learning a new language

Hidden Charges (Not Free!)

This app only lets you learn very basic words in each language before it requires payment to continue. Charges are somewhere around $9.99 for one month, $6.66 for 3 months, and $5.42 for 12 months. NOT FREE

They charge your card without notice

They continue to charge your credit card for years after you no longer use or want the program. I did not give my consent, and I did not realize the theft until I tried to start up lessons again. Once they start they will not stop taking your money until you cancel your credit card.

Free?

I saw an ad online saying this was a free language learning app. I will have to take French courses next year and thought Id be able to get a head start. I only learned a few basic words before they asked me to pay! This definitely isnt free. I dont recommend it.
