The app is free but once youve gotten started and had fun they ask you to subscribe. Duolingo is similar but completely free.

Ok I am 14yrs old and I take French In school and this app is absolutely stupid i downloaded it to see if it could teach me something and it didnt and also most of the French words werent even the right word . Les app no bein (the app no good )in French ) Chow
I dont know why people would expect this too be free. But its so cheap, that it practically is. They give you a great free trial period. The most fun and convenient way to learn a language. If youre looking to learn a language you will definitely do so with Babbel.
Terrible This is far too advanced for beginners A few second to spell French words is not beginners
All but one of the speakers are great and speak at a normal pace. There is one male speaker with a very deep voice (deep enough to be distracting) who sounds like he is in slo mo. Whats up with this? It is honestly very distracting. French does a far better job that German at providing the correct article or (m) (f) when the noun is first introduced.
This a great app but you should use another language tool in conjunction with this one because its just not effective on its own
-1 star for the price. This is more of a crash course for French beginners, and the way it builds upon itself is sporadic and nonsensical. It starts off teaching you like a tourist who only wants to say a few phrases, rather than someone interested in investing time and willing to overcome the initial sharp learning curve that is acquiring a new language. -1 star for the 3 months free offer. They give you a single day to respond, then the offer is revoked. Id rather have a week free to try it out than a three month offer revoked if I dont sign up for an additional three months within 24 hours. I probably wouldve signed up for at least a month to test drive had this not happened. Im an Intermediate level leaner teaching myself, I mightve liked the app had I been allowed to try it out for more than six or so vocab words and phrases.
I want to first say that this is a wonderful app. I believe that the user experience would be greatly improved if the program took advantage of the full screen size of the devices in which it is used. On my iPhone and now iPhone +, the font and images are tiny. My father uses this on both his iPad and his desktop PC and has to wear his glasses to use the program! There should be a setting to adjust font and image size. This would make the experience better for almost everyone, and would look better no matter what. Babble, please make this change on the next update! Thanks!
This is an excellent app Im enjoying using it however I dont much care about the focus on the written word. For languages especially such as French which I am using the written word is very different from the spoken word. I am interested in learning conversational French not how to write it correctly which is even more difficult than speaking it. Often times I knew the answer to the question asked however I cant spell the word correctly and get it wrong. I would imagine Im in the majority as most people wanting to learn a language are concerned about speaking it not so much writing it. With that being said I think this is a very good app.
This app is extremely well designed and works beautifully. Cant believe the progress Im making. The combination of photos and writing and audio with just the right amount of repetition and help is amazing. It makes learning fun.
Love this app. I was a French major in college many years ago and am enjoying especially hearing the spoken word. Its been a long time. Keep up the good work. How do I send this review
Its a fairly good app but costly. There should be more focus on pronouncement and speech.
I subscribe it annually, and Ive learnt a lot of word on Babbel. Its good for memorize words especially. If I can choose and just listen conversational audio parts, it will be more helpful app for mobile. For speaking, its difficult to improve your language skill by just using app. You need a real conversation practice with a native. But this app definitely helps fundamental stuff of French.
Id like to rate more than 1 star, but the app doesnt work on both my iPad and tablet. Never got the lessons to load or download. Just really sad when it works fine on my laptop but I dont always use my laptop.
the app close itself, please solve that!
Great! Love that they have the languages I would like to learn. If this combined with memrise, that would work for a great app
not all are unlocked.... if all unlocked world be 4 stars
Some may not like paying for a monthly fee but it is totally worth it. This is great interactive program that really immerses and challenges how to learn the language. Its nice Babbel offers free lessons but you get TONS of lessons after you purchase the subscription.
This has been an excellent way for me to learn French, although Im more interested in "speaking" correctly versus "spelling" correctly as it would benefit me more in conversation. Thanks!
So I press the little button where its suppose to play the word for you to repeat, most of time it just saids a small bit of the word or nothing at all (example: "Merci" it just says "Ma"). Ive check all the settings within the app, checked the volume, etc. on my iPad, so it should be sounding just fine. Another thing is the part where youre suppose to repeat the word - you have to repeat it IMMEDIATELY after it saids the word, and you have shout when saying it as well repeating it quickly because the mic shuts off fast. It does this even though I have the settings in the app for my mics sensitivity set as high as 100%. Not only this app is useless, its frustrating and not helpful. A bad teacher indeed. App deleted.
